In this series we look back at 4 games which loosely fit in the FPS/MOBA genre and discuss how they were received at launch compares to how they are received today. We look at statistics where possible – cold hard numbers which tell us whether these are “dead games”, if they are thriving, or somewhere in between.

It’s really sad how many 3D moba shooters end up failing despite having really cool concepts. I found out recently that before OMDU shut down, they removed the mode that I thought was the coolest aspect of the game which was a pvp moba style tower defense mode.

Paladins: Doing Fine, But Mostly Stagnant.
Overwatch: Life Support and Connecting to one of the Most hated Companies in America
Paragon: Dead
Gigantic: Dead, was going to be revived but then that died too. (Tragedy of the Highest order.)
I actually like Paladins kinda, Evil Mojo does seem to care about the game but Hi-Rez sucks.
Paladins is also a full crossplay game too (even including switch). There’s always games going on, Steam charts is only one 5th of the story.

I just wish for Gigantic to try again. The game got way more popular with these videos and it would be cool for the game to get revived.
I'm honestly surprised overwatch is doing as well as it is. Everyone I know of has been dissatisfied by the updates they did around the time they buffed junkrat and things like the Mercy and D.Va rework. My main gripe was they tweaked a meta they acknowledged was good far too soon and too much. Not to mention the toxic community making it not worth staying or coming back to.
i miss battleborn i feel like the story mode was so cool and even overwatch is gonna copy it now. RIP
